A loan of $375 helped to buy and insure a dairy cow.

Jackson's story

Jackson, a married 40-year-old father of 10-year-old twins, has been farming for 15 years and mainly produces maize for the local market. Jackson says the major problem in the area remains poor infrastructure which delays farmers' deliveries to the market and significantly affects their incomes. He earns additional money from his employment with Kenya Seen Company.

Jackson has requested a loan of 31,200 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow. He says the acquisition of a dairy cow will provide the family with milk for daily consumption as well as help pay for the children's education. He aspires to own a pick-up truck in order to venture into the transport business.
