Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,425 helped to pay for her son’s semester fees.

Fatmeh's story

Fatmeh is a 45-year-old married woman who has five sons and daughters; one of them has recently joined the military.

Fatmeh works as a nurse in a hospital and her husband works in the Ministry of Education. Their oldest son Ibrahim, 20 years old, is a second year college student majoring in crime studies.

Fatmeh has applied for this loan so they can pay for their son’s semester fees to continue and get his Bachelor's degree. Because Fatmeh is a conservative person, she asked for her son Ibrahim to appear in the photo instead of her.
