A loan of $800 helped to buy supplies and repair a printer.

Laura's story

Laura, 29, lives with her family in a community called Brasilia in the province of Alajuela. There is much tourism in this area because of the Arenal volcano located in the nearby Monteverde cloud forest in the lowlands in the northern part of the country. There are five national parks in Alajuela, a national wildlife preserve, five protected areas and several forest reserves. In the province there is also the Juan Santamaría Museum which exhibits locally produced crafts. The region is also the top coffee and cane sugar producer.

Since 2009 Laura has been in business but had to close because a lack of economic resources. She has a printing/bazaar business where she offers printing services, photocopying, bazaar articles and, in the future, Internet services. Her customers are the community neighbors who are very satisfied with her quality.

Laura is requesting a micro-loan of 400,000 CRC to buy supplies and repair a printer. She wants to provide the best customer service possible and must provide an additional income for the household.

Laura is a member of the communal bank Brasilia S.A., and she is very grateful for the opportunity to have access to a loan which will help her meet her goals.
