A loan of $1,000 helped to buy cattle.

Jose Octaviano's story

Jose Octaviano is 48 years old. He lives with his family in a community called El Upala de San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela. In Alajuela there are five national parks, a national wildlife reserve, five protected areas and various forest reserves. The Juan Santamaría Museum is also in the area, where locally prodcued artesanal products are on display. This zone is the nation's top producer of coffee and sugar cane.

For the last three years Jose Octaviano has made a living in cattle farming. He has a farm but is lacking the most important part which will cause his business to get ahead and will help to benefit the community.

At this time, Jose Octaviano is requesting a loan of 500,000 colones to buy four heifers. With this he hopes to make his business grow and improve his and his family's quality of life.

Jose Octaviano is a member of the company 'Crédito Comunal de Delirio', one of the 150 member organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica. This will be his third loan and with it he hopes to continue growing personally and economically, apart from participating actively in the MFI of his community.
