Blanca Aidee's story

Blanca is a member of the “Cochapamba” communal bank in El Valle Parish also known as “San Juan Bautista de El Valle” that’s located southeast of Cuenca. It is a corn producing area. Among its attractions we can point out the Cochapamba Lagoon (full of totora reeds). Its residents are kind and maintain the culture and traditions of its peoples. They are merchants, farmers and raise animals. Blanca is 35 years old, married and has two children who are 17 and 11 years old. Her oldest son attends high school and her second daughter attends the local elementary school in the city. Her husband works as a bricklayer and the house they live in is theirs. Blanca does the household chores and cares for her family. Since she spends most of her time at home she also raises pigs, chickens and guinea pigs that she sells whenever she has an economic need; they are also for home consumption. She’s been in the communal bank for 12 years and will use the new loan to buy pigs, chickens, guinea pigs and animal feed. Her goal is to finish her house.
