A loan of $1,000 helped to buy 200 chicks, 4 quintals of start-up concentrate, 16 quintals of last-stage concentrate, vaccines, to improve the coops and to buy more products for her store.

Blanca Alicia's story

Blanca is 41 years old, married and has a son. She has spent her life doing domestic chores but for the last 8 years has been working raising chickens, an idea that her sister gave her. She also has a small, home-based store with basic household staples.

She asked Fundación Campo for a loan to buy 200 chicks, 4 quintals of start-up concentrate, 16 quintals of last-stage concentrate and vaccines; to improve the coops and to buy more products for her store.

She will buy all of this in a city in the east of the country that’s four and a half kilometers from home. With this investment she’ll have a better farm and she’ll strengthen her store which will lead to better income. She will save part of it because she wants to give her family a better quality of life.

Later on, Blanca plans to buy pigs to fatten up and sell, to do some home improvements, to have much more money saved, to meet her community’s needs with her store and the farm because in her areas hers is the only one.
