A loan of $1,000 helped to buy clothes.

Soumaila's story

Soumaila is 35-year-old married man with one child. He, his wife and his child live in his father's house in the North Hérémakono district of Bougouni.

Having completed Koranic school, Soumaila decided to set out in search of adventure and a better life in Libya. Unable to fulfill his ambitions, he decided to return to Bougouni so that he could learn the business of sales, particularly how to sell various products, from his uncle. Soumaila is now a skilled salesman with 6 years experience.

In order to strengthen his business, he decided to rejoin Soro Yiriwaso so that he would be able to buy 20 pieces of fabric, 40 pairs of trousers and 25 shirts. He gets his supplies in Bamako and sells his merchandise to men and women. He does a lot of business during periods of religious celebrations and big ceremonies (like baptisms and weddings). This is his second loan request from Soro Yiriwaso.

Soumaila expects this loan to enable him to make a monthly profit of 75 000 francs, which he will use to improve his business. He plans to expand his shop in the coming years.
