Yura's story

Yura was born in 1983 in the town of Kapan, and in 2003 he and his family moved to the village of Shishkert in the Syunik province. After finishing high school, Yura went to the Kapan technical college and graduated with a diploma in construction. So far Yura is single and lives together with his parents. Yura’s whole family has been doing farm work for seven years. On his own land plot, Yura grows apples for sale. Since his own plot is small, he also leases [additional] land for growing potatoes for sale, using the rest as grazing land for his livestock. Yura and his parents raise cattle, sheep, bees and chickens.

Yura and his parents sell potatoes and apples at markets in the Syunik province. Meat, milk, honey and wool are sold directly out of their home to loyal customers. Thanks to farm work, Yura and his family are able to provide for the household needs. Yura needs a loan of 300,000 ADM in order to buy five sheep, which will allow him to increase his family’s income in the future.
