A loan of $600 helped to buy seeds, manure, fertilizers, pesticides, and supplies.

Cruz Maria's story

Cruz María, age 45, is in a common-law marriage and has three children. She lives with her husband and three children, ages 18, 17, and 4, in Ventanas in the Los Rios province.

She is a member of the “Nuevo Horizonte” (New Horizon) communal bank in the Cachely Grande precinct of the Ventanas canton. This communal bank devotes itself to the agricultural work of growing short cycle corn, rice, and pigeon pea beans.

Cruz María grows corn. She buys and sells her agricultural products in Ventanas.

She is requesting the loan to buy seeds, manure, fertilizers, pesticides, and supplies. With the support of the loan her crops will increase. She faces challenges like pest infestations, diseases, and climate changes.

Her dream is to buy a piece of land. She likes to spend her free time with the animals.
