The communal bank "Kuña Aty" is a member group located in Barrio Santa Maria, composed of 15 women who are neighbors, friends, and sisters. They are currently on the second loan cycle. Their communal bank shows a lot of interest with all the programs offered by the Foundation.

Eloina (one of the members) is a very hardworking woman who sells vegetables. This has allowed her to move forward with her family and help with the daily house expenses. She knows how difficult it is to maintain her house, so she puts a lot of effort into it on a daily basis. Her sales are going well, since her neighbors always buy from her.

The loan requested to KIVA and the Fundacion Paraguaya will be used to buy vegetables, like tomatoes, chilies, onions, potatoes, legumes and other type of vegetables. This will help her to stock her store and continue offering vegetables to her customers.

About Fundación Paraguaya

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
