Kamuyu Group's story

In the photo are members of the “Kamuyu” group. They are small-scale businesspeople based in Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. This is not the first loan this group of entrepreneurs has accessed from Kiva lenders. Previous loans have helped a lot in improving the businesses and lives of these borrowers. Having repaid their last loan successfully, they are again seeking a new loan of SLL 5,000,000 in order to further expand their businesses. The leader of this group is Memuna. Memuna was born in Makeni city, where she is currently residing, together with her husband and four children. Her husband is a diamond miner and two of her children are attending primary school. Memuna has been a businesswoman for twenty years now. She is currently selling dried/smoked fish. With her share of this loan, she is going to buy baskets full of dried fish for sale.
