A loan of $1,175 helped a member to buy more seed and fertilizer for her farmland.

Srouy's Group's story

Srouy is 59 years old. She is married and has six children, two of whom are dependent on her. She is a rice farmer in a village of the Tbaung Khmum district of Cambodia and she has been farming her own farmland for almost 40 years to earn a living. To earn additional income to better feed her family, she also grows vegetables. With her current business, she earns about $5 per day to pay for daily household expenses.

Srouy is the leader of the five-member Srouy Group and this is their first loan with Kiva's field partner VisionFund. As the leader, Srouy will use this loan to buy more seed and fertilizer for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to increase her income and improve her standard of living.
