Luzolo Plus Group's story

Sami, age 40, is the chairman of the community group named Luzolo Plus, which consists of 8 members united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through its partnering microfinance institution, HOPE RDC, with the goal of developing their businesses. Sami is married and the father of four children between 2 and 11 years old. Three of them attend school.

Sami has been in the microenterprise world since 2001. He has been selling drinks. His drink facility is located west of the city of Kinshasa. He is a loyal client of HOPE RDC and has already received five different loans and repaid them properly. He intends to use the next loan to increase the stock of his goods by buying 20 crates of drinks with the aim of increasing his profits. Each week, his business brings in a profit of $210. His ambition is to open a larger drink facility in his area.
