A loan of $575 helped to buy coffee plants.

Edwin's story

Edwin, 27, is a happy and hardworking youth who lives in his own house in the community of Manitea Alta. He is a hardworking man who puts a lot of care into the work that he does. He is a farmer who works the land, and up until now he has cultivated coffee. He puts in a lot of effort in order to make his lands very productive. He has been farming for more than 15 years, and has become very knowledgeable about the world of agriculture. At harvest time and when he needs to weed his crops, he hires workers who help him get the most difficult tasks done more quickly. His crops generate good earnings for him, as the wholesale companies who buy his products pay him well for each kilogram. The main problem with his work is that he cannot fight off the insects that damage the fruits of his plants. But now, his main priority is to buy new lands, because he does not have enough space for further planting. This is his 5th loan with MFP, and he is committed to continuing to make his payments on time, as he has done with the previous loans. He thanks the members of his communal bank for electing him as president of the board. With the 1,500 Peruvian soles he requests, he will buy cocoa seedlings that are ready to grow, because he wants to cultivate them in a way that makes use of modern technology.
