Carmen's story

Carmen is 50 years old and a hardworking and dedicated woman. She really wants to get ahead. She is separated and lives with her two grown children, aged 30 and 27, in their own home. Carmen's activity is making pastries. She learned this trade studying a a local work training center, where they taught her to make delicious cakes and desserts for graduations, weddings, and other social events. At present, she has a lot of orders due to the good work she does. She continues to keep herself up to date because there are always new things to learn. She has an oven in her house where she has made her goods and served customers for 22 years. She likes making pastries and crafts as well. She likes her trade because it has brought her a lot of satisfaction, such as income and being able to become an entrepreneur. She has plans to open a soda fountain in her house, since her corner location is strategic for a good business. This would be the second loan she has had with the MFP institution. She is happy with the financial support to advance her business. She also likes her communal bank because she thinks the members are good people. With the amount she has asked for, 1500 nuevos soles, she will invest in buying ingredients to make cakes for this graduation season, as well as molds and pastry utensils.
