A loan of $375 helped to buy sacks of fertilizer.

Cirilo's story

Cirilo is 31 years old and single. He lives in his own house in the central village of Nueva Esperanza Alta in the Llochegua district. Cirilo is a farmer. He has been growing cacao for over ten years. In the beginning he started with one hectare of land, which his father gave him. It had half a “cuadra” (a cuadra is 6,400 meters) of cacao plants. With the income from this small amount that he had he started to expand his fields. This includes buying more land where cacao was grown. He generally works alone, but during harvest season he always needs field workers so they can help with the harvest of his products. He then sells the crops at the large collection sites in the Llochegua district. He is happy with his work because it generates good income. In the future he wishes to get land in the Llochegua district where he would later be able to build his home. This will be his first loan with MFP. He pledges to make his payments punctually. He will use the 1,000 soles to buy manure to fertilize his agricultural property.
