An internally displaced person (IDP) is a person, who was forced to suddenly flee his home as a result of a military conflict, violence, violation of human rights, natural disasters or other catastrophes, but what differentiates him from a refugee is the fact that did not cross an international border and is located on the territory of his own country (source: United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs).
