Wilfredo's story

Wilfredo, 42, lives in the city of Ica, known as The Land of the Eternal Sun because you can always enjoy the sun in any season of the year. It is also known for its traditional dances and for the Huacachina Lagoon, known as The Oasis of America, and above all as a city whose residents are welcoming and generous as well as optimistic since they came out ahead in spite of the 2007 earthquake in which many lost their lives or were injured. Peru is well known also for the delicious food, and one of the dishes that Wilfredo likes very much is the delicious chicken and rice, which has rice combined with chicken, in pieces or stuffed, vegetables (corn kernels, diced carrot, green beans), and other spices.

Wilfredo works at his job as a locksmith, which consists of repairing door locks, repairing padlocks, and making keys. He works about 10 hours a day, which he does with great effort despite the intense heat in his city. He waits on around 10 customers a day and can earn up to 380 PEN, and 500 PEN in a very good day. He believes that his business is going well for him because he does a good job and above all he is hardworking in doing it. He also takes care of the customers in a pleasant way.

Wilfredo is very grateful for the support of the Kiva lenders because thanks to this help he will be able to buy more tools and materials to improve his locksmith shop to do his work. With this improvement he will have more materials and will do an even better job and have a better equipped shop. With this he will get more income so he will be able to continue saving and be able to realize his biggest dream, to have a service enterprise.
