A loan of $375 helped to buy cacao plants.

Edwin's story

Edwin, age 31, lives with 22 year old Enayda. They live in their own house with their two children, five year old Juan and six month old Ruth. Edwin works the land where he grows cacao. His parents taught him how to till the land. With his accumulated savings he was able to achieve his goal of having his own land.

He knows about hard work in the field, where he has been working his own land for ten years. During harvest time he is helped by hired field hands who transport the harvested products to a certain point to be sold. He feels very committed to his work because, thanks to his daily efforts, today he enjoys seeing that his plants bear good fruit. He comments that he’s not very fond of winter because insects that damage his crops are abundant during those months.

He will use the requested 1,000 soles to buy cocoa bean plants to graft and get profits from them in a shorter time.

This will be his first loan with MFP. He knows that if he repays it on time he’ll be able to access another loan more easily and not create problems for his communal bank.
