A loan of $575 helped to hire day laborers.

Eduardo's story

Eduardo is 55 years old and is a very hardworking man. He lives in his own house with his wife, Margarita (52 years old) and their 4 beloved children, whom he wants to provide with a good education. At his age Eduardo is a man who focuses on his responsibilities and obligations, and though he has gotten used to setbacks in life, he doesn’t let them stop him. He is currently trying to get ahead with his cacao plants; after harvesting them he goes to sell the cacao in the city of San Francisco. He already has different buyers there who know the quality of his product and are eager to purchase all of his cacao wholesale. What Eduardo likes most about his work is planting the crops on his land and making the land fertile and productive. He has worked in this activity for 26 years, and what he finds most difficult about it is spraying his fields for pests, since he has to do that with great care because the chemicals can be dangerous to his health.

The loan Eduardo is asking for will be used to maintain his crops. In the future he hopes to continue saving his income because he wants to buy more land. This will be his first loan with MFP, and he knows that the money from the loan will be very helpful for improving his work. He is happy to belong to his communal bank with the other members of his group. Eduardo is going to use the 1,500 soles from the loan to hire day laborers to help him with specific maintenance tasks such as pruning, removing weeds, and spraying his crops.
