A loan of $375 helped to buy coffee seeds.

Augusto's story

Augusto is 37 and married to Paulina who is 40. He has two children Wilian, 15 and Deysi, 13. They live together in their own home within the Camunachari community.

There is no stopping Augusto from continuing to grow and obtain good profits; since he was a small child his parents took him to work on the farm and he is well accustomed to hard work in the fields. Augusto is a farmer and grows coffee in his fields. He has already spent 15 years working his own land. During the harvest seasons his wife and two children as well as casual labourers help him out so that they can harvest the coffee more quickly.

What he most enjoys about his work is harvesting the fruits of his labour as this makes him feel that the months of hard work have paid off. The hardest thing for him is transporting his produce from his farm to the city of San Francisco, where he gets the best prices for his products. He says that he is not fond of the winter because of the amount of insects and rainfall that hamper the yield from his plantation and threaten his crops.

He has requested a loan so that he is able to buy more coffee seeds to graft so as to get a good return on his work in less time. This will be his first loan from MFP and he feels that the money will help him a great deal in his work. He is cooperative with everyone at his communal bank. With the 1,000 new soles he will buy more coffee seeds to graft so as to get a good return on his work in less time.
