A loan of $750 helped to buy shoes for her new business.

Marleni's story

21-year old Marleni is a hardworking woman who lives with her 26-year old husband Yuri in a house that they rent. Marleni earns her living growing cocoa, coffee, and coca. Early every morning she starts work in her fields as she knows that the money she earns from the crops depends a lot of the quality of the harvest.

She sells the produce in her own store in the town of San Francisco where her customers pay more. She most enjoys harvesting the produce as she feels that the months of work have paid off. She’s been doing this work for five years; the most difficult part of the work is spraying the crops because there is always the danger that the chemicals will cause sickness.

For this reason Marleni would like a different line of work where she will earn more money such as selling shoes to the people of San Francisco. This is her second loan with MFP. The money will help her achieve her goal of starting a new business. She is well-liked by the members of her community bank because she is always good-natured. With the S/.2,000 she plans to buy shoes, open a store, and have peace of mind.
