A loan of $1,100 helped a member to buy provisions.

Nuevos Emprendedores (Cuenca) Group's story

The Nuevos Emprendedores communal bank is comprised of four men and three women. They work at different business activities. These businesses allow them to pay for the household expenses and to get ahead with their families. They live in the city of Cuenca, which is the country’s third most important city. The city is known for the four rivers that bathe it, the beautiful scenery, its nature, and for the culture and traditions of its residents who are characteristically kind and cordial. Zoila, age 55, is one of the members of this group. She is married and has five children who are all adults. Two of them are married and live independently. Two are single, work, and help her financially. Her last child goes to the city’s university. Her husband is a driver, and he works providing taxi service in his own vehicle. The house they live in is their own. Zoila devotes herself to the household chores. As she spends most of her time at home, she cares for her grandchildren. This is her second loan in her communal bank. She will use it to buy provisions for her home. Her dream is to buy a piece of land.
