A loan of $575 helped to service his mototaxi.

Carlos German's story

Carlos is a very proactive young man. He’s 20 years old and lives in the city of Chincha, a city known for its Afro-Peruvian population, its dances and because it’s the birthplace of some of Perú’s great sports legends and because of its beautiful beaches and for the production of our national beverage “Pisco.” It’s also a city that is very well known for its cuisine and the dish that Carlos likes best is “Carapulcra con Ropa Seca.” Carlos completed fifth grade of secondary school since his parents did not have much economic resources and he had to start working while still a little boy to help at home.

Carlos is a very hardworking young man who does three things simultaneously: one of them is to drive a mototaxi providing public transportation to the general public in his neighborhood. During afternoons and evenings he works in his chicken farm feeding and cleaning the animals. He also has a stand where he sells chickens, vegetables, fruit and beer. So, even if you find it hard to believe, he tells us that he couldn’t do all of this without the help and support of his spouse who is his right hand; she helps him taking care of the food stand while he works driving the mototaxi aside from being his source of encouragement and the reason why he gives his life to do everything possible and even the impossible for his little daughter. He believes that he does well in his businesses because he puts the maximum effort into it and always is organized and, above all, because he does everything with enthusiasm and because God is leading him along a good path and his daughter is the best vitamin for when he’s tired and the best motivating factor in his life.

Carlos is very happy and grateful for the support provided by Kiva lenders because with the help provided he will be able to service his mototaxi and buy more merchandise for his business (beer, fruit) to have more income because he’ll be able to offer a wider variety of merchandise and drive a vehicle in better conditions to continue to save and provide the best quality of life for his family because, above all, he wants to reach his greatest dream: “To provide a good education for his little girl and to grow as a micro businessman.”
