A loan of $375 helped to hire day laborers and buy sacks of fertilizer.

Eugenio's story

Eugenio is 19 years old, an enthusiastic youth who lives in his parents' house in the native community of San Roman Bajo, Perene district, Chanchamayo province. At his young age, Eugenio has already developed an ability in business and agriculture. Thanks to his parents, he has 3 parcels of agricultural land on which he plants coffee, the product that generates the most income in his zone. Each harvest he sells around 60 sacks of 70 kilos each. Eugenio can't complain; he has savings that permit him to give himself some youthful pleasures and at the same time, help his parents economically. Every day he heads for his fields to check on their progress and pull weeds. He comments that he invests a great deal in fertilizers so that, in the end, the recompense will be larger. Eugenio is a visionary and an enterprising person. With his savings he wants to buy a motor to generate lights and, thereby, begin another business in his community. This will be his 1st loan obtained through MFP. He is excited about it. Eugenio has joined “La Bella Durmiente” (The Sleeping Beauty) Communal Bank, with which he has high hopes. With the loan Eugenio will pay day laborers to chop down weeds, and he'll purchase some sacks of fertilizer.
