Joemar, is single with one child. He is 26 years old, and lives at Taguitic, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte: Philippines. To earn a living, Joemar operates a business selling seafood products including crabs, fish and shrimp in the local community. He has been in the business for two years. Each month, he earns PHP 5,000 doing this type of business.
Joemar requested a loan of PHP 18,000 to purchase fishing equipment including hooks and nets. In 2010, Joemar joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve his business and living situation. In the future, Joemar wants to save to have a reserve for future emergencies.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
