Flor María

Ecuador
Montecristi, Ecuador / Grocery Store

A loan of $775 helped to buy rice, sugar, detergents, sausages, meats, vegetables, and other products.

Flor María's story

The communal bank María Auxiliadora meets in the parish of Sequita in prosperous Montecristi in the canton of Manabita and they are hard working people proud of their roots. La Sequita is a parish where the people are honest and only know how to work and care for their families.

Here we meet Flor who is 48 years old, married and from this relationship she has four children, all of them adults, with two of them still living with her. Her husband is a farmer.

She is a housewife who some years ago made an appropriate place in her home where she put a little store where she sells staples, and there her customers can find grains, oil, detergents, vegetables, fruits, chickens, fish, meat and cheese by the pound and in smaller quantities if her customers prefer. She works every day from 6:00AM until 7:00PM. She has had more than ten years in her business and things are going very well.

She will use the money from this loan to buy rice, sugar, detergents, sausages, meats, vegetables, and other products. She has been with the community bank through twelve cycles and she likes it because thanks to the loans she has been able to improve her daily business.

Her dream is to have a larger store.
