A loan of $1,200 helped to buy raw materials such as rods, nails and leather, and to pay people to make saddles.

Jairo Enrique's story

34-year-old Jairo is from Telpaneca, Estelí. He is married and has three children who are 12, 10 and 4 years old. He is a salesman by trade and sells horse saddles. He started his business with his own capital which he saved up from his previous job making horse saddles in his uncle's workshop. He dreamed of one day owning his own business and used the experience he had gained to move ahead independently in order to provide for his family. Jairo will use this loan to buy raw materials such as rods, nails and leather. He will also pay people to make saddles. This will help him to make more saddles and he will be able to sell them in bulk, wholesale. Jairo's goal is to expand his business and to become known outside of Estelí, so that he can provide his family with a better standard of living. He would like to make some improvements to his home as the house in which he currently lives is made from wood and, when it rains, everything gets wet.
