A loan of $575 helped to buy more chickens.

Romy's story

Romy is 28 years old and lives with her partner, 31-year-old David. The couple have three children. They live together in their own home which is located in the village of Canayre, in Llochegua district. Romy is a young woman who is full of aspirations and goals which she plans to fulfill. She tells us that, owing to financial problems, she stopped studying and started selling chickens. This business has been profitable up to the present time. At first she experienced a lot of difficulties but, over time, she has managed to overcome them. The only problem that currently bothers her is not having a suitable place to keep the chickens until they are slaughtered. Romy usually works alone but sometimes her daughters help her. Her husband works as a farmer and also saws wood. In the future, Romy would like to have a farm so that she can supply the market with chicken (meat). This will be her first loan from MFP and she pledges to make her repayments on time. She will use her 1,500 soles to buy more chickens.
