A loan of $875 helped to buy farm supplies and to hire day laborers.

Jose German's story

José is from Estelí. He’s 56 years old and a farmer. He has three children and has been in this business for 25 years. He grows peppers in his vegetable fields which are of vital importance for sales and for residents’ consumption. He has taught his children how to work the land that he has cared for with such effort and dedication so that one day they will inherit it and produce good fruits like it’s been doing to date.

He took out the loan to plant a manzana [Central American unit of land area] of tomatoes and he wants to buy farm supplies and pay labor costs. This will help him produce a good quality harvest. He hopes that profits will be very good in order to pay off his loan, to buy better irrigation equipment, to do some home improvements and to provide his children with a good education.
