A loan of $575 helped to buy farmland.

Brigida's story

Brígida, 30, lives with Herminio, 31, and they have a son. They live together in their own house located in the community of Villa Virgen in Llochegua District. Brígida is a humble woman of good principles. She’s been farming cocoa beans since the age of 19. At the beginning she worked as a day laborer for others but gradually saved up capital and with her husband’s support farmed cocoa beans on a piece of farmland her father passed down to them. While the plants were growing she’d care for them since cocoa bean plants don’t start producing fruit for two years. She is happy and satisfied with the things she’s accomplished and because of that she does not lose hope that later on she will be able to set up a business where she’ll be able to earn more money. This will be her first MFP loan and she commits to make her installment payments punctually. She will use the 1500 soles to buy a piece of farmland.
