A loan of $575 helped to hire farm laborers.

Geremias's story

Geremias is 31 years old and lives with Flor, aged 30. The fruits of their love are Flor, aged 9, and Kenji, aged 5. They live together in the district of Pichari. Geremias is a hard-working man who day in, day out toils in the field with the desire to succeed and see his children progress and in the future become good professionals and useful members of society.

Geremias has nearly always been working in agriculture, cultivating and harvesting coffee. Since this is a labor-intensive activity, he must necessarily hire farm workers for the harvesting and planting season. Once the coffee beans are harvested, Geremias stockpiles them in sacks and waits until buyers, mostly wholesalers, turn up. Geremias is happy with this work. It enabled him to build his dwelling where he lives now with his beloved wife and their two young children.

This is his first loan with the microfinance institution Microfinanzas Prisma. He promises to pay it off according to the repayment schedule. He will use the 1500 new soles to hire laborers to weed his coffee field.
