A loan of $375 helped to hire workers.

Eder's story

Eder, 24, lives with Luz, and together they have 2 daughters who are their greatest treasures: Seicy, who is 2 years old, and Camila, who is 2 months old. They live in their own home in the indigenous community of San Pablo de Shaoriato, in the Pichanaki district of the province of Chanchamayo. Eder is a very hardworking businessman. He farms 2 parcels of land, cultivating coffee and ginger. Ginger from the San Pablo area is highly sought after, because the land and climate there is very good for growing it. For this reason every year, Eder harvests 17,000 kilos, which he successfully sells in the city of Pichanaki. Eder enjoys his work because he can be more independent, and most of all because his income depends upon his own efforts. In order to facilitate his work, he hires people to help him put soil around the plants, weed and plant his crops. When he has an urgent need for cash, he harvests the immature ginger, called “Chikión,” which is also in demand, although the price is lower.

He is planning to plant other products such as corn in the next month, and to do this he will rent some land from neighbors or friends. This will be the first time that Eder will take a loan through MFP. He will be responsible for making his payments on time. He is pleased to belong to the communal bank “Los Norionkis de San Pablo."

With the money from this loan, he will be able to pay for workers that he will hire to clear and cultivate his lands.
