A loan of $775 helped a member to hire workers to harvest her rice crop and expand her business.

Chamrat's Group's story

Originally from a village of the Thmor Koul district, Chamrat is a 39-year-old mother of four dependent children, two daughters and two sons, who all are still in school. She started farming on her two-hectare rice farm twelve years ago and she supplements her income by selling Chinese noodle and rice soup in the village.

Chamrat received a loan from VisionFund five years ago. The previous loan helped her make a living better. She earns more than US$25 per day but saves less than four U.S. dollars daily. She successfully paid back her loan with VisionFund.

Now she and two other members in the group, namely Leng and Saovry, are applying for a loan. She will use her entire share of the loan to hire workers to harvest her rice crop and also to buy ingredients and other stuff for her business. She hopes to run her business well and earn more income to set aside some money to buy necessary comforts and also keep her children in school.
