A loan of $375 helped to hire labourers.

Edin's story

Edín is a young entrepreneur. He is 28 and single, and lives in his parents' home in the native community of Pachacutec, Chanchamayo province. He works hard and does his share. Although he does not have a wife or children, he knows that he can achieve anything through hard work.
He learned to work the land thanks to his parents; he is a born farmer. On his two blocks of land, he has sown coffee and annatto. "Coffee is profitable, and sales are good in June. Annatto is harvested once a month and it is in high demand," he says.
He harvests 400 kilos of annatto, which goes for 3 to 4 Soles per kilo.
Because he is an independent man, he needs the help of labourers whom he pays by the day. He enjoys his work, because the quality of the production depends on him. His goal for the future is to expand his crops; in order to do so, he will rent some plots of land for the next sowing. This will be his first loan with MFP, so he promises to be responsible with the payment of his quotas. He says that he is excited to be part of the "Los Claveles de Pachacutec" communal bank.
Upon receiving this loan, he will be able to hire labourers to work his land, since it is time to clear and fertilize.
