Rosalba De Jesus
Rosalba de Jesús has been a tenacious woman who has had to work hard with her husband to raise their six children. A victim of violence, Rosalba de Jesús is a displaced person; she had to abandon her town to reside in the town of Bello north of the city of Medellín. From there she’s been able to move her family ahead thanks to the fact that she and her husband were able to secure a food stand in the neighborhood where they work long, daily work days. With the aim of increasing sales and offering different items to their customers, Rosalba wants to buy a fast food cart to add to her customer offerings.

La señora Rosalba de Jesus ha sido una mujer luchadora que ha tenido que trabajar fuertemente con su esposo para sacar sus 6 hijos adelante. Víctima de la violencia, la señora Rosalba de Jesús es una desplazada mas que tuvo que abandonar su municipio para hospedarse en el municipio de Bello, al norte de la ciudad de Medellín. Desde allí ha podido sacar su familia adelante gracias a que con su esposo consiguieron un puesto de comidas en su barrio donde trabajan todos los días en largas jornadas. Con el ánimo de incrementar sus ventas y ofrecer productos diferentes a sus clientes, la señora Rosalba busca comprar un carro de comidas rápidas para añadirles la oferta a sus clientes.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
