Carmen is the president of the Emprendedores de Pampahasi (Entrepreneurs of Pampahasi) communal bank. All the members live in the area of Pampahasi, which is where they got the name. Carmen is a very responsible and hard-working person who is always supportive of her fellow members, so they elected her president. She sells collectible CDs in the area of Villa Fátima. She sells door-to-door and she works with her son, who is 2 years old. Her husband works as a minibus assistant. They rent, and they both pay household expenses. She will use the money from the loan to purchase a CD of dance songs for this new year, since she has a lot of demand. Carmen is a very hard-working person and is always diversifying her products. In the future, she wants to rent a shop in order to be able to sell her products and in this way further increase her business capital. She is very thankful for the help she is receiving.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
