A loan of $425 helped buy materials such as net eyes, a drum of fishing twine, fishing lines, and cement to make tools used in making and repairing fishing nets.

Carlos Alberto's story

Carlos is a humble fisherman, 31 years of age, who comes from Granada and has 5 children. He has followed this trade since he was 19 years old. Carlos only completed primary school because he had to go to work in order to eat. His poverty did not permit him to continue to study, nor to attend the university. For that reason, he doesn't want this to happen to his children.

Carlos begins fishing very early in the morning when he launches his humble boat and his fishing gear on the imposing Lake Granada, and returns late in the afternoon, after spending all day in the incandescent sun, to sell his fresh water catch.

Carlos is requesting a loan to buy materials such as (net) eyes, a drum of twine, fishing line, and cement to make a tool for making and mending fishing nets. This will help him to catch and sell more fish. Since, as always, he desires to get ahead, he wants to buy a boat that is in better condition -- the one he has is somewhat dilapidated.
