A loan of $1,125 helped buy clothing and baby toys.

Ada Luz's story

Ada Luz is 34 years old and lives in Nazca, Peru. This city is famous for the legendary Nazca Lines, a set of ancient, huge, and inexplicable hieroglyphics carved in the desert surrounding the city. They are generally attributed to the Nazca culture, which inhabited the region from 300 to 800 AD. Because of this, the city attracts a considerable amount of tourism. But Nazca is also known for its hard-working people, who have remained calm in the face of frequent earthquakes, tsunamis, and a high level of poverty in the region.

In her free time, she enjoys talking to her 9 year old son who is in third grade. Of course, everyone knows that Peru is known for having the most delicious foods in the world, and one of Ada's most favorite dishes is tasty ceviche. She studied to be an executive secretary, but currently works selling baby clothing and toys. She works 8 hours a day, and was encouraged when she saw there was a lot of demand for this type of products. In a day, Ada can attend to up to 18 customers, which helps with the additional expenses of the home. She believes her business is going well for her because she knows her customers well and because she offers a variety of products.

Ada is more than thankful for the Kiva lenders, because with the support provided, she will be able to buy merchandise, baby clothing, and toys for the Christmas season. This will help her offer more products, and there are new clothing fads she can take advantage of to increase her earnings and start to save so that one day her greatest dream will come true: "to see her son as a professional and have her own house".
