A loan of $275 helped to buy stock merchandise for her store and clothes she has standing orders for.

Keyci's story

Keyci, 24, lives in the city of Cartagena where she has her business selling cold cuts and cleaning supplies. She started her business when she stopped working for a businessman who also sells these products and where she gained her experience.

A year ago, then, she started her own adventure as an independent business with support from that businessman she used to work for because he’d give her products on consignment. With savings generated from her profits she managed to have her own capital and today she buys directly but during seasons of high commercial activity, like Christmas and New Year, her working capital is insufficient to meet demand.

This is the reason behind her Kiva loan, her first financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo that she’ll use to buy cold cuts, canned goods, beauty products, disinfectants and clothes she has customer prior orders for so that she can have a well-stocked business. Her dream is to make it grow to increase income and in future have a house of her own and to provide her 8-month-old son with a good education.
