Gela's story

Gela is 49 years old. He lives in the village of Shilda (East Georgia) with his family: wife Nino and his 70 year old mother. The family earns their living through agricultural activities. In particular, the family has 2 milk cows and 40 sheep. Gela and Nino produce cheese and sell it to local dairy products retailers. Also, they sell lambs at the local market. The total average monthly income of the family is 1000 Laris.

Gela has requested credit for purchasing 7-8 calves. He will grow them in order to have more milking cows. He will be able to produce and sell more cheese. This will increase the income of the family.

Gela plans to save proceeds from the increased income towards the renovation of the house. This will improve the family members’ living conditions.
