A loan of $1,100 helped to buy pigs.

María Rosario's story

María is a member of the Los Talvos communal bank. She lives in a community in the El Valle parish in Cuenca, also called San Bautista del Valle. It has beautiful places to enjoy the natural landscapes. Its people work in business, raising animals, and agriculture, and many work in the city every day. María is 39 years old. She is married, and this union has produced 6 children aged 3, 5, 7 ,17, 20, and 22. Two of her children are secondary school students, her daughter works and helps with household expenses, and two of her children are primary school students. Her husband works in agriculture and sells animals. The house they live in belongs to them. María takes care of her home and works in agriculture. Her family consumes what she harvests, and like her husband, she has sold livestock for 10 years. She has been a member of the communal bank for 15 years, and she will use her new loan to buy pigs. Her goal is to have a dressmaking shop.
