A loan of $775 helped to buy jewelry.

María Angelina's story

María is a member of the communal bank “The Future of Life.” She lives in the city of Cuenca, a city which is culturally, naturally, and architecturally rich. It is surrounded by four rivers, which give it the name “Santa Ana of the Four Rivers.” Its people maintain the culture and tradition of its villages.

María is 53 years old and married, and from her conjugal union has produced five children, ages 27, 21, 18, 16, and 10. Her oldest daughter is married and lives independently. Her second son works and studies. Her third daughter studies in a high school in the city, and her fourth son works on his own for his personal expenses. Her youngest son is in an elementary school in the city. Her husband works in an aluminum and glass shop. They do not have their own house, which is why they are renting.

For ten years, María has sold Goldfield jewelry. She walks around the city selling her merchandise, and she works five days a week without a fixed schedule.

This is her third loan with the communal bank, and she will put the loan towards the purchase of jewelry so that she can expand this business.

Her dream is to have her own house.
