A loan of $1,200 helped to repair his vehicle.

Mario Gerardo's story

Gerardo, 48, lives with his family in Osa, a canton in the Costa Rican province of Puntarenas. It's a largely rural area, much visited for its beaches, and the most important industries here are tourism and farming.

Gerardo works hard for his family and he can count on their support. He operates a taxi business and there's a strong demand for the service he provides because he's a hard worker.

Gerardo will use this 600,000 (six-hundred thousand) colones loan to pay for repairs and buy spare parts for his taxi. The investment will allow him to ensure that the taxi is properly maintained.

Gerardo is a member of the Cana Blancal community bank, one of 150 organizations that belong to the EDESA network in Costa Rica. This loan will help him to grow personally and economically. He wants to emphasize, as well, that loans such as this one allow him to spend more time earning a living.
