A loan of $375 helped to buy fertilizer.

Elisa's story

Elisa, a hard-working 37-year-old, is from the city of Kimbiri. She is married to Germán, 41, and they have three children who they try to provide a good life for. Elisa has expertise in agriculture and with much dedication and effort grows her cocoa crop. She learned the trade from her parents and has been involved in this activity for 20 years. She acknowledges the fact that the success of her crop is due to the quality of her produce and the competitive price she offers at the community center where she sells. She is content with her achievements so far and is planning to expand her cropland while minimizing cost and time involved in an effort to obtain good economic results.

Normally her husband helps out with the work and together they are always searching for new techniques for plantation care. They go out to work the fields from very early in the morning and are there until late in he evening. This is her fourth loan through MFP, and she is committed to paying it back on time. Her communal bank gives her a sense of strength and security. With the 1,000 PEN loan she will buy fertilizers for crop maintenance and to kill the weeds.
