A loan of $750 helped to purchase larger than usual quantities of glasses, luxury accessories, cases, costume jewelry, silver and gold plated accessories.

Paul Dario's story

Paul is 22 years old. He lives with his common law wife and their 3 children ages 1 to 7.

He has a business selling glasses, standard and luxury accessories, jewelry cases, silver and gold plated accessories. He learned this business from his father. When his father died in 2001, Paul took over the business that his father left him. In 2009 he moved to an busy commercial area near the professional soccer stadium in Barranquilla. From there, he was relocated and moved to a shopping area set up for street merchants to use without obstructing public spaces. His main customers are pedestrians, people who live in the neighborhood, tourists, soccer fans, etc. He makes sales in cash although he can also take credit.

His interest in growing his business is clear, and for this reason he is applying for a Kiva loan. This is his first loan through the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. He will use it to purchase a greater than usual amount of glasses, luxury accessories, cases, costume jewelry, and silver and gold plated accessories so that his business is well stocked during Christmas and New Year’s, when his customers tend to have more money available. He plans to make this investment a success.
