Viviana's story

27-year old Viviana lives in one of the most important craft-making areas of the department of Bolívar. Traditional crafts that are made there include knitting, hammock making, bag making etc. and are well-known throughout Colombia.

Ever since she was a child, Viviana has seen her whole family engaged in making crafts so she also decided to earn her living in a job she enjoyed. In order to perfect her art she has taken courses leading to a diploma. Her goal in the future is to own a store where she can offer a wide variety of designs that she has created, often with input from her customers.

Currently Viviana is preparing for the holiday period when many tourists traveling along the main highway through Colombia stop to buy crafts. As she lacks the money to buy the supplies necessary to make these preparations, she is now seeking her first loan with the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. With the money she plans to buy thread and other supplies for making school bags, backpacks and other similar items that she creates in her imagination. Her customers greatly admire her work and buy the items she makes.
