A loan of $4,500 helped a member to add more stock of food to sell.


Tafuta Upate Group's story

Apolonia, is in her early forties and is married with three children. She has been a food vendor for seven years now. She works from 6am to 10pm and she is able to make a good monthly profit. This will be Apolonia’s sixth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to increase the stock of food and pay the school fees for her children and has paid back all her loans successfully. She hopes for a loan to add more stock of food to sell. Apolonia’s dream is to one day build her own house. Apolonia will share this loan with her loan group, "Tafuta upate", which totals 16 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable in paying back the loan.
