A loan of $550 helped to purchase raw materials and agricultural products.

Gabriel's story

Gabriel is 32 years old and lives in the city of Cartagena with his companion and their three children ages 1 to 9. There he has a cabinet maker's shop, an activity that he learned while working in a business with these same characteristics. He worked with the previous business for 10 years, and has been independent for five years, having purchased his own tools and machines to start his own micro business, which is how he and his family live now. His future goal is to have an industrial machine and to work particularly on doors in order to distribute them weekly via vendors. In his shop he works on many different pieces, including beds, dining room tables, shelves etc. In Gabriel's shop, his clients order products and give him a percentage of the price of the product so that he can get started on his business. Currently his capital is not sufficient to be able to grow the business and to respond to the needs of his clientele in the periods of highest sales for his products. For that reason he approached Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo, a Kiva field partner, in order to buy raw materials and agricultural products with his first Kiva loan. This is also the first financing that he has done with this organization. With this investment he will succeed in making new designs and exhibiting them in his shop.
