A loan of $3,000 helped a member to increase her stock of chicken and potatoes.

Huruma Group's story

Kuruthumu is in her early sixties and single. She has been selling chicken and chips for ten years. She works from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and she is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be Kuruthumu’s eighth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to add more stock to her business. She has repaid all of her loans successfully. She hopes for a loan to increase her stock of chicken and potatoes. Kuruthumu’s dream is to one day be able to build her own house.

Kuruthumu will share this loan with her loan group, "Huruma", which consists of 17 members who will hold each other accountable in paying back the loans.
